Born in Liverpool way back in 1949, it was on the same block as Brian Epstein's
shop. I
Moved to Bristol with parents when I was 11 years old.
I first started playing the guitar when I was about 15 years old and my first bass was an acoustic guitar with the top two strings taken off. My very first real bass was a Hofner Verythin (wish I had kept it now). I started playing in a small trio - Guitar, bass, drums - and then progressed to a 4 piece. I played the local clubs/pubs and in 1969 turned pro and went to Newquay, Cornwall and played in the Wig Wam Club in the Tall Trees club. |
| I
played the summer season in Newquay then came back to Bristol and played at the Towns Talk
Motel for a long while. The band was called Four of a Kind.
I then moved from there to work for Mecca, at Tifffany's in Hinckley Leics, where I stayed for a number of months playing as usual six nights a week. From Tiffany's came a new line up, including two female singers, and another move, to Germany playing on the American army bases. I did a month, came back, reformed the band and went back for another go at the bases. |

Playing six nights a week as house band in various camps. I
stayed
for a further three months and then came home.
The band split due to musical differences and I joined a local band and continued to play for a few more years. I then packed it all in and gave it a rest. I had a good job and then met with Dave Wilkins and the rest is..........Up to today. I now play a 1977 Fender Precision through a Ampeg BA210 Combo Amp with a Zoom 506II effects pedal. |
